The Kardashians might make millions, but do they have a clue that distracted driving kills? Their TV reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” might be watched by millions, but maybe they are ones that need a reality check, or at the very least one member of its clan does: Kendall Jenner.

Forgive me if I appear to be picking on an 18-year-old woman right now, but the fact remains, the Jenner needs to use her popularity for good rather than demonstrate a disregard for safety and pure common sense when driving a motor vehicle. That’s exactly what she did when posting an Instagram video of herself and model friend Ashley Skye while singing, dancing, and doing who knows what all while driving down a Los Angeles highway.

I’ve seen this video and I can say wholeheartedly, if you are someone who has lost a loved one as a result of a distracted driver,—(http://www.padd.org/index.php/en/homepage, http://enddd.org/, http://stopdistractions.org/) I have no doubt you are disgusted by the actions of this knucklehead-moves of these two women. Every time I viewed this video I couldn’t help but be grateful that these so-called models—who are supposed to be teenage role-models—made it off the road safely and no one was injured during their escapades. I’m mortified Jenner has no regard for human life; her own or anyone else on the road ahead of her.

Maybe Jenner is so busy acting on her reality TV show that she doesn’t know that in 2012, 421,000 drivers were injured and 3,300 were killed as a result of distracted driving. And maybe she needs to understand that taking her eyes off the road for an average of just for 4.6 simple seconds, which, at 60 miles per hour, is the equivalent of driving the length of a football field blind.

So as I see it, Jenner’s Instagram video would now make the perfect PSA (public service announcement) for what not to do while driving a car. Maybe her apology to all the parents, grandparents, husbands, and wives who have lost loved ones due to a distracted driver should be as a spoke’s person for teenagers on how to stay focused on the road in front of them when behind the wheel.

I have yet to hear Jenner apologize for her actions or to feel any remorse. Perhaps in her world she believes there is nothing wrong with singing, waving her hands, dancing in her seat, and bobbing her head all while driving down a busy LA highway. She’s one lucky lady that no one was injured. The next time just might be a different story. But so far we haven’t seen or heard anything from Jenner or her agent saying she is sorry for being so careless and insensitive. Interestingly, Bruce, this is your chance to help your daughter do something good with her life, perhaps even influence other teens in a truly positive way. Now wouldn’t that be something to sing about?
