Omni-ID Brings IoT to the Plant Floor

In today’s connected world, paper and other traditional solutions can impede an optimized workflow. However, IoT (Internet of Things) solutions that provide critical process visibility give companies the ability to track materials, control process flows, and create new efficiencies that impact the bottomline.

Omni-ID, www.omni-id.com, a provider of RFID (radio-frequency identification) and visual-tagging solutions for industrial applications, has enhanced its ProVIEW intelligent supply chain and IoT-enablement solutions by unveiling the next generation of its View 3 & 4 tags.

Omni-ID’s ProVIEW system offers a paperless workflow for the manufacturing industry by combining the immediate reliability of paper labels with automated tracking and item level control. The company continues to develop original, patented technologies for on-metal and visual tagging that help enable asset tracking and supply chain management applications.

The new View 3 & 4 tags feature either a 3-inch or 4-inch screen, in addition to a lower profile, faster response times, extended battery life, and a rugged formfactor. Omni-ID says the products fit seamlessly into the materials flow process by replacing paper labeling on existing racks, bins, or other on-floor transport systems.

By combining passive and active RFID technologies, the View tags drive realtime instruction to and from operators at the point of assembly while also returning advanced analytics to plant management. The company says each tag can be automatically or manually triggered to display custom instructions at different locations on the factory floor. What’s more, they can be updated remotely as priorities and schedules change, providing tracking and visibility while also bridging information gaps in the manufacturing process.
