Project Description

Multitasking Photo Frame
chumby8, by chumby industries, is like a photo frame on steroids. The sleek-looking device is 8.7 inches wide and 6.75 inches tall, with an 8-inch 800×600 LCD touchscreen. chumby8 connects to your home Wi-Fi network and delivers customizable content such as photo streams from your favorite photo apps (Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket, etc.). The device can also deliver fresh (and free) content according to your interests—whether you’re looking for local news, weather forecasts, music, social networking, or of course, pictures.

You can upload photos straight to the chumby8 via USB stick or SD card, or you can use the device as a window to the Internet. Plug your chumby device into a power outlet, connect it to your wireless network, and choose from more than 1,500 applications for a fully customized device. It doesn’t require peripherals such as a PC, mouse, or keyboard. No monthly fees or extra costs will haunt you, either. It does require a high-speed broadband Internet connection (chumby will not work with dial up), and a wireless router. It can be plugged in via wired Ethernet cable if necessary.

Use it as an alarm clock, a task scheduler or calendar, or a radio in addition to a connected photo frame. You can receive Facebook or Twitter alerts and share photos, videos, and apps with friends and family. Over-the-air software updates make chumby8 an easy device to maintain. Comes in red or black.

Internet Streaming: A chumby’s apps are passive, refreshing continuously without input from you. Available (non-photo) apps include: Pandora, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MTV News, Groupon, iheartradio, eBay, Craigslist, and many more.
