A M2M connectivity specialist will integrate satellite technology into its subscription-based communications service. SIGFOX, www.sigfox.com, wirelessly connects IoT (Internet of Things) devices to the Internet and will integrate Eutelsat, www.eutelsat.com, satellite technology to enable data exchange at base stations.
SIGFOX focuses on small-message exchanges for existing connectivity and allows years-to-decades of device battery life and lower communication costs. The company issues IoT communications over IP (Internet protocol) base stations and will use Eutelsat’s low-power satellite technology, SmartLNB, to expand data exchange.
SmartLNB creates a bridge between satellite and IP worlds and offers simple installation, guaranteed bandwidth, and ubiquitous coverage. The device is ideal for SIGFOX as it is well positioned in similar IoT markets including smart energy, connected home, and M2M monitoring and control applications.
Eutelsat’s satellite technology sets up IoT network infrastructure and will help SIGFOX enhance its service. High reliability and coverage will give SIGFOX the chance to efficiently select base stations.
