Tape Lights Up the Scene

LED otherwise known as light emitting diode, lights have become the go-to for energy-conscious homeowners. They reduce energy costs and are being recommended as the lighting alternative. Bulbs and fixtures that use much lower wattage while providing light, both in color temperature and lumens, equal or better than incandescent or florescent units are becoming the norm. And when designing the entertainment area in a new construction or remodeling project, LEDs in strip or tape format adds changeable colors and new ambiance to the room or, in some case, the outdoors.

A familiar name in LED lights is American Lighting, a manufacturer of high-quality lights for residential, commercial, and specialty installations. The company’s latest, the Hybrid 3 RGBW, comes as a fully encased 120v DC tape light that works both indoors and in damp to wet outdoor applications.

The Hybrid 3 RGBW is ideal for hospitality, home theater, and other entertainment applications, delivering 105 lumens per foot, while consuming only 3 watts per foot. The reel packed lights have parallel wiring in 12-inch cutting increments to ensure that if one LED goes out, the rest continue to operate for long-term performance and easy maintenance. It is also an economical solution for larger installations with a 164-foot maximum run without a driver.

Its adjustable color temperature of RGB+3000K allows the LEDs to be precisely set in a wide range of colors to optimize lighting environments while dimmed using DMX and RF Controls. A 120-CTRL-4CH DMX Decoder is recommended plus a DMX controller for precise RGBW control. IP65 rated for wet locations, Hybrid 3 will perform in temperatures ranging from -30°C (-22°F) to 45°C (113°F). It has a 30,000-hour rated performance life and comes with a 1-year limited warranty.
