Go Digital: Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

There has been a lot of talk about what impact the IIJA (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) will have on the construction industry in the months ahead, but one thing is for certain. Construction companies will need to adhere to requirements, which will likely require the use of technology. One company recognizes this and has introduced a new solution.

But first the basics. Signed into law in November 2021, the five-year $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act aims to rebuild America’s roads, bridges, and rails; expand access to clean drinking water; ensure every American has access to high-speed internet; invest in passenger rail; build a national network of EV (electric vehicle) chargers; upgrade our power infrastructure; invest in communities; and tackle the climate crisis.

To help, last month, AECOM announced it has expanded its Digital AECOM offering to help U.S. clients meet the rigorous IIJA grant requirements and the federal Justic40 Initiative commitments to effectively compete for funding and maximize capital plans.

Digital AECOM brings together the company’s consulting services, hosted services products, and digital tools, which enhance the delivery of core engineering and design services to help clients accelerate their digital journeys.

The solution combines AI (artificial intelligence), geospatial analytics, capital planning, and stakeholder engagement with AECOM’s comprehensive understanding of the Federal grants process and leading technical expertise to help clients compete for funds and optimize capital plans that leverage the new and expanded funding programs.

The company says the latest approach will also combine its ESG (environmental, social, and governance) advisory services, project scoping, and grant application service capabilities with Digital AECOM products.

While this is simply one example, the bottomline is technology will be key in order to compete for and complete IIJA projects. What are you seeing on the projects you are working on?
