Smart Homes in the Shade

Growth is a good thing, most people will agree, just ask PowerShades. PowerShades, a provider of manual and automated window shades for residential, commercial, and hospitality applications, is dealing with at least two of them.

In August 2022, the company moved from three separate buildings into a single, new headquarters. The new facility more than doubles the size of the company’s previous combined footprint, and is home to all PowerShades operations, production, manufacturing, warehousing, customer service, and sales. The new facility more than quadruples PowerShades’ production area which will house an array of new machinery including welders, high-end soft cutting and tube cutting equipment, and other specialized machinery.

But size is one aspect of growth and partnerships and integration with other companies and products is another. In this regard, the company’s complete range of AC and DC powered, RF, solar powered, and True PoE motorized shades can now be integrated with the Crestron Home Operating System.

Crestron, a leader in home automation, introduced the Crestron Home OS to make the smart home more secure, comfortable, and convenient. With one intelligent platform, the homeowner can easily orchestrate their home’s environment, from lighting and acoustics to temperature and entertainment, as well as how their home interacts with the outside world to create an oasis that enhances their life.

Complimenting Crestron Home OS capabilities, PowerShades indoor and outdoor motorized roller shades, with a broad range of customization and automation options including setting scenes and schedules, voice control, cloud-based connectivity, mobile app control and more, can be set up with their intuitive PowerShades Dashboard.

Now that PowerShades has four or five times more storage for raw materials, they expect their customers will see an improvement in order fulfillment. They are in the process of hiring additional personnel who will have offices in the new space, including new regional sales managers and new quality assurance personnel. The new facility will also help to accommodate PowerShades’ growth plans, including capacity and equipment for new window covering products being launched in the near future as the company continues to innovate and expand the category.
