AI (artificial intelligence) technologies can make a difference in several vertical industries. Consider the example of the dentist where it can help improve clinical efficiency, resulting in better patient care. Let’s explore how this might look like in the dental field with an example.

A new partnership brings Bola AI’s Voice Perio and Clinical Notes solutions into the classroom at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. With this, students can train in the latest AI technology in order to prepare for the workforce or their own dental practices.

The AI technology emboldens dental staff to enter periodontal data directly into client PMs (periodontal maintenance) and EHR (electronic health record) systems in realtime while delivering speech accuracy of 99% and allowing for variable accents and flexible phrasing.

Here is how this can help in dentistry:

    • Enhanced clinical efficiency.
    • Standardized workflow for periodontal charting.
    • Improved adherence to infection control protocols.

The school has been piloting the technology in its hygiene clinic for a few months, with further incorporation of the technology expected throughout the fall. In the future, we will see more AI technology in dental offices, allowing more time to focus on the patient and less time on charting and documentation.
