It seems lately asthma is on the rise—a topic we have discussed over on Project Sustainability Podcast many times. In fact, research suggests roughly 25 million people in the United States currently have asthma—and more than 34 million Americans live with a chronic lung disease. Enter a new Respiratory Module implemented by Desert Oasis Healthcare, a regional medical group.

It is designed to give providers a more complete view of the patient in order to guide treatment decisions for those with respiratory diseases such as COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or asthma. Data from Teva Pharmaceuticals Digihaler family of digital inhalers is brought into clinical workflows via the Rimidi platform, allowing for efficient management of COPD and asthma.

Here is how this can help in healthcare:

    • More comprehensive data and insights about patient health.
    • Better monitor patients with respiratory diseases both in clinic and at home.
    • Help identify avoidable complications and provide appropriate treatment.

Looking to the future, we are going to see the rise of more technologies that will enable people to live in their homes longer. Being able to monitor and keep a closer eye on health gives adults the ability to live with chronic conditions at home longer—and it gives all peace of mind that a patient is being cared for well.
