Sustainability is a big topic for many companies around the world. Perhaps one vertical market where it is a big priority is energy. Between 1990 and 2020, energy used for cooling tripled and will continue to increase as global economies expand and temperatures rise. A big tech company recognizes the opportunity here and has created an accelerator to super charge this industry.
As part of the third edition of the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator, 15 starts-ups from across Europe will benefit from a four-week program featuring expert-led workshops, specialized mentorship, a tailored curriculum, and access to a network of entrepreneurs in the sustainability sector. This year, these startups also have an opportunity to pitch their technology for a trial in Amazon’s European operations.
Let’s consider just one example that has joined the accelerator: Dublin-based HT Materials Science. The start-up has developed a simple retrofit solution that improves heating and cooling systems. The technology can be added to any existing commercial and industrial heating and cooling system.
Here is how this can help:
- Reduce energy consumption.
- Enable cost savings.
- Create a more sustainable world.
While this is one example, we know we will see the rise of technology in all areas of the energy industry, as we look to make it more sustainable for future generations. This is certainly one trend to keep an eye on.
