AI spending will reach $2.59 trillion in 2026.
That’s 47% increase.
@Gartner forecasts worldwide AI (artificial intelligence) spending will reach $2.59 trillion in 2026, representing a massive 47% increase compared to the previous year.
The growth reflects how quickly organizations are moving from experimenting with AI tools to making long-term investments in infrastructure, software, and services that support enterprise-scale adoption.
But that is only part of the story. According to Gartner, much of the current spending is still being driven by technology vendors and hyperscalers building out the foundation for AI systems. AI infrastructure alone is expected to account for more than $1.4 trillion in spending, while AI services and software continue to see rapid expansion as businesses integrate AI deeper into daily operations.
The report also suggests companies are becoming more focused on practical AI applications rather than experimental projects. Organizations are increasingly adopting generative AI features already embedded into existing software platforms, while AI agents and automation tools are expected to drive even higher demand in the next several years. Gartner analysts note token consumption, and operational AI usage will continue rising as businesses automate more complex workflows.
The momentum behind AI investment remains difficult to ignore. As businesses continue prioritizing automation, productivity, and digital transformation, AI is quickly becoming less of a future technology and more of a core business necessity. How sustainable this level of spending will be remains one of the biggest questions facing the tech industry—but for now, the race to build and scale AI capabilities appears far from slowing down. #Factoftheweek
