    Gas Crunch Alternative

Time to think powerless tools. And for good reason. During the month of March alone, the price of gasoline has been rising steadily and by March 7, the U.S. had hit an average gasoline price of $4.17 per gallon, far surpassing an all-time high, and even higher in small cities that lack competition, according to the AAA. And as the month is coming to a close gasoline prices have continued to rise surpassing record highs.

The first thought is to save gas on transportation, but the second is to look to gas-powered equipment in use on and off jobsites that could benefit from being replaced by electric units. Power tool companies are working to supply the battery-powered replacements and alert buyers to those options. Among them is Makita, a company that has a wide array of professional cordless outdoor equipment powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries.

Makita continues to meet the growing demand for “greener” alternatives to gas equipment with expansion of its cordless OPE (outdoor power equipment) system. And, to increase awareness of these battery-powered alternatives to gas equipment,

Makita has more than 60 OPE products within the 18V & 36V LXT System, offering 300 compatible cordless tools as well as lighting, radios, jobsite apparel, and more. And for all-day professional use Makita offers ConnectX, a line of outdoor power equipment that uses an external battery connection for extended run time, as well as select LXT and XGT—the new 40V/80V XGT System of equipment and tools—with the use of an adapter. The extended run time of ConnectX gives professional users a true gas replacement.
