Adding to the R in ERP

ERP—enterprise resource planning, not to be confused with Wyatt Earp from Tombstone fame—has come a long way since the 1980s. First migrated from mainframe and minicomputers to the desktop PC and now into the cloud, ERP has proven to be a vital part of the digitalization of companies. But each generation of ERP confronts the complaint, “What about….?” Something always seems to be missing.

Major players in the market quickly respond to these cries for more. They may create their own or partner with a company already in the market with an answer. Sometimes they acquire the necessary software by acquiring the best provider of that missing piece for their market. Or they do both.

One of the latter companies is JDM Technology Group, a software firm focused on delivering business software systems for the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations industries. Its CGC (Computer Guidance Corp.) brand, is a developer of cloud-based ERP solutions for the construction industry. CGC recently partnered with Corpay, a leader in business payments, and JDM acquired Australian CavSoft, a leading provider of estimating and takeoff software for the construction industry Down Under.

The collaboration will offer Corpay Payment Automation’s AP services to Computer Guidance Corporation’s construction customers to further simplify back-office procedures as well as provide further visibility into business payments. The acquisition of CavSoft expands JDM’s reach in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Computer Guidance’s eCMS Cloud Construction ERP helps its clients’ digital transformation for greater efficiency and faster growth through technologies and resources to collect and transform business data into real-time, usable and actionable information while making it available to all who need to use it.

eCMS Connect for Corpay will enable higher standards of automation and security, as well as faster payment processing. Corpay software automates payments for accounts payable teams, and Computer Guidance’s eCMS cloud-based ERP software helps any size and type of commercial contractor. The integrated solution, eCMS Connect for Corpay, will deliver an end-to-end and fully automated vendor payment and expense management application.

Meanwhile, Down Under, CavSoft will join Spearhead Software, a JDM Technology Group company with expertise in estimating software for the Australian electrical industry, based out of Kelmscott, Western Australia. CavSoft’s estimating software helps contractors in the plumbing, building, electrical, and civil works industries reduce estimating time so they can win more work and grow their businesses.
