Are security investments keeping pace with emerging threats? Juniper Research suggests adoption of post-quantum cryptography is accelerating, but not fast enough.
Just 27% of businesses globally are expected to deploy post-quantum cryptography by 2035, even as the total number of adopters surpasses 100 million. That is a sharp rise from only about 35,000 organizations in 2026, highlighting how early the market still is. The market is projected to grow from $1.2 billion in 2026 to $13.3 billion in 2035.
Perhaps one of the more interesting takeaways from the research is that quantum-safe security is moving from theoretical planning to active deployment.
Why is this shift occurring? The data points to a few key drivers emerging from the research.
- Preparing for Q-day, which is when quantum computers can break current encryption.
- Enabling crypto-agility, which is the ability to quickly update cryptographic systems.
- Aligning with evolving global standards and vendor-led innovation.
There’s a clear sense of urgency beginning to build. While adoption is growing rapidly, the majority of organizations still aren’t prepared for what comes next.
Confidence in quantum-safe strategies is increasing, but the gap between awareness and action still remains. Time will ultimately tell whether adoption can accelerate fast enough to keep up with the risk.
