On roughly 5,800 acres in the Texas Panhandle will sit a power campus—a private grid and intelligence development center. The Advanced Energy and Intelligence Campus will support the growing demands of AI (artificial intelligence), data innovation, and sustainable energy.

Together, the Texas Tech University System and Fermi America will create the campus, which will include 18 million-sq.ft. of data centers. The Texas Tech University System consists of five universities including Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Angelo State University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, and Midwestern State University.

Here is how the Advanced Energy and Intelligence Campus can help:

    • Generate up to 11 gigawatts of IT (information technology) capacity from natural gas, solar, wind, and clean nuclear energy.
    • Provide a solution to the growing demands of AI innovation.
    • Provide academic and research opportunities for faculty and students.

Looking to the future, the plan will also include construction from an academic and research facility, featuring office, classroom, and conference spaces. We can except this to be a beacon for how future facilities might look. It is certainly a project to keep an eye on in the days ahead.
