Sensor technology continues to advance for schools to make them more secure. Consider the case of Metrasens, which has developed advanced detection systems for greater safety in schools. The sensor technology can identify potential threats, including concealed weapons. The system can be used both indoors and outdoors, is portable, flexible, battery powered, weather resistance, and has zonal indication.

Moore Public Schools, which is the fourth largest public school system in the state, is one example of a district that has adopted such technology. Building on a successful pilot of Metrasens Ultra detectors in the previous academic year, Moore Public Schools officially integrated them at the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

Here is how this is helping in this school district:

    • Provide reliability and durability with the detectors.
    • Ensure a secure environment for extracurricular events at 35 campus sites and various large venues.
    • Heighten safety measures across the district.

While this is only one example, sensor technology can help in myriad ways. We will continue to see the use of it grow in our schools, cities, and beyond.
